Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested four drug-peddlers in Budgam, and Ganderbal, and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

According to a police spokesman, cops intercepted a cab (JK01S-5579) at a special checkpoint at Karipora near DC Office Budgam.

On the search of three persons- –  identified as Jehangir Ahmad Magloo alias Jan Kandail, son of Abdul Rashid; Mohammad Arif Magloo, son of Ghulam Mohammad, both residents of Putlibag, and Zahoor Ahmad Dar alias Tota, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar of Nasrullapora, travelling in the vehicle — police recovered 4.75 grams of heroin, three mobile phones and cash of ₹1010 from their possession, spokesman said, adding that they were arrested while the vehicle has also been seized.

During investigation, the spokesman said it surfaced that the arrested drug-peddlers were going to sell contrabands among the youth of Mirgund, Karipora and other adjacent areas of district Budgam.

In Ganderbal, a police party arrested a drug-peddler identified as Adil Ahmad Guroo, son of Ghulam Qadir Guroo of Narainbagh, and recovered a huge quantity of ‘Bhang Patri’ (cannabis leaves) from his possession.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, police said.
