Ramban: At least four persons were killed in a road accident that took place near Chenani area of Udhampur district on Monday morning.

An official told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a vehicle was on way from Gool Sangaldan towards Udhampur when it skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Prem Mandir in Chenani today morning.

He said in the incident four persons identified as Tadil Ahmad, Hajra Begum, Abdul Hamid and Jamal Din Abdul Hamid—all residents of Sangaldan were injured and were immediately shifted to a hospital.

He said, however, two among them succumbed on way to hospital while two succumb at hospital.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Ramban in a tweet said: “Just in – Accident at Sarmoli. Reportedly, Mufti Abdul Hamid Saheb, Imam, Jamia Masjid Sangladan and his father, Mufti Jamal Din Saheb died on spot.”

In an a another tweet, he said: “All four passengers traveling in an Alto vehicle which met with an accident near Samroli, Udhampur have died. The family belonged to Sangaldan, Gool. More updates will follow.”
