Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir’s senior bureaucrat Rohit Kansal will proceed on central deputation as the Government of India posted him as additional secretary in the Union Textile Ministry on Saturday.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), a copy of which is in possession o Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Appointment Committee of Cabinet has posted Kansal, a 1995-batch IAS officer of Union Territory cadre, as additional secretary in Union Textiles Ministry.
After returning from central deputation in 2013, Kansal has held key posts in Jammu & Kashmir during his 9-year stint.
As administrative secretary of the Power Development Department, Kansal played a crucial role in augmenting and strengthening infrastructure in the sector in both Kashmir and Jammu.
He played a crucial role in implementing the Government’s initiative to reach out to the people at the grassroots level through a programme named ‘Back to Village”.
