ACS Home Goyal reviews preparations for Armed Forces Flag Day

JAMMU: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Home Department, RK Goyal today chaired a meeting to review the preparations for forthcoming Armed Forces Flag Day celebrations and other measures being taken for the welfare of ex-servicemen, widows, and their dependents.

Speaking during the meeting, the ACS called upon all the departments to come forward for this virtuous cause and show exemplary dedication in realizing the fresh targets laid for the fund.

He called for a sustained campaign to be run in collaboration with the Sainik Welfare Department J&K to create awareness among the citizens about the importance of the Armed Forces Flag Day.

Goyal maintained that this contribution towards the fund is an acknowledgment of the services rendered by the armed forces toward the nation.

He highlighted that the soldiers ensure peace and tranquillity on our land which is pivotal for the progress, development, and economic well-being of our nation, adding that it must be the endeavor of the citizens to reciprocate the same by contributing generously.

The ACS asked all Departments to undertake a sustained campaign to create awareness about the importance of the Armed Forces Flag Day through various electronic print and other means of communication.

Director, Sainik Welfare highlighted that every year 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day which provides the citizens an opportunity to show their gratitude to the Armed Forces by donating liberally to the AFFD Fund.

He gave the outline of various welfare activities undertaken out of the fund for the rehabilitation and welfare of widows, ex-servicemen, and their dependents.

While thanking the departments for their cooperation in the past, he exhorted them for full cooperation and support even in the future.

The meeting was attended by Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Dr Piyush Singla, Secretary GAD; Brigadier(Retd) Gurmeet Singh Shan, Director Sainik Welfare Deptt; Mahesh Dass, DG Accounts and Treasury; Kanta Rakwal, Special Secretary School Education; Manoj Pandita, AIG(Pers), PHQ; Rakesh Kumar, Addl Secretary Finance, Deputy Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu and other concerned.
