Dheeraj reviews preparedness on projects proposed under JICA Funding

JAMMU: Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department (HUDD), Dheeraj Gupta today chaired a meeting of officers to review the projects pertaining to Urban Water Supply and Urban Sewerage Management proposed to be sponsored under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Funding at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Planning Development & Monitoring Department, Director Planning and Coordination, JTFRP, Director Technical, JTFRP, CEO JKERA, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Jammu/Kashmir, representative of UEED and other concerned.

The meeting held a threadbare discussion over the projects to be taken in the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar pertaining to Urban Water Supply and Urban Sewerage Management while discussing appraisal cost and preliminary cost of the projects.

Dheeraj Gupta asked the officers to be ready with the lists and Preliminary Projects Reports of tentative projects to be taken up under the proposed JICA after due consultations for the successful execution of these projects.

Besides, he asked the concerned to make the list of works to be taken and reflect those in their respective DPRs to keep the scope for modification, and revision accordingly before the final submission of these DPRs.

The Principal Secretary also asked the officers to adhere to the mandatory guidelines for sewerage and modify their DPRs with new norms and guidelines.

Earlier, Secretary PD&MD briefed the meeting about the salient features of the JICA and said the projects are aimed to provide safe and stable water supply and sewerage services by carrying out the construction of water treatment and sewage treatment plants and related facilities for the residents in Jammu and Srinagar Metropolitan areas.
