SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K. Pole Monday categorically stated that routine class work in schools would continue until there is no major snowfall in the plains of Kashmir province.

“We don’t need to clarify anything as Director School Education has already cleared that routine class work in schools would continue until the plains in the valley receive major snowfall. Winter vacations are announced only after plains receive major snowfall. There are chances that routine class work would continue till December end this year,” said the Div Com while talking to the media after inaugurating 7th branch of IndusInd Bank at Hari Singh High Street here.

Pertinently, Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Tasaduq Hussain Mir had a day earlier said that there are no plans of announcing winter vacations in schools until the weather conditions go down in the valley.

Div Cm Kashmir said there are chances of schools to function till December end as no major change has been witnessed in the weather conditions this year so far.

“There is no change in previous policy so far as the winter vacations in schools are concerned, plains receive major snowfall every year and then winter vacations are announced. Nothing has changed. Now it depends on nature, until and unless there is no major snowfall, routine class work in schools would continue,” he added.

Replying to a question whether the opening of new bank branches would help reduce unemployment in the valley, Pole said definitely banks have a role in the economic prosperity of the country.

“Fifteen to twenty youth would be appointed on different posts in every branch of IndusInd bank. Definitely banks have a role in the economic prosperity of the country. IndusInd Bank has opened its 17th branch in Kashmir and 7th in Srinagar,” Div Com said.
