JAMMU: The J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL), the department of Health and Medical Education and other Health institutions today organized a one-day workshop on “Management of Hospital Equipment- Procurement Management and Challenges”.

Chaired by  Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary, Health and Medical Education, the event was attended by all heads of different health institutions including Principals of various GMCs of Jammu division, Director, Health Jammu, MD NHM, MD Ayush, Director Coordination, New Medical Colleges, HoDs of different specialities of GMCs and Medical Superintendents of all the Hospitals of Jammu division among others.

All the senior officers of JKMSCL including Pankaj Gupta, Managing Director, Anshumali Sharma, Majid Mirab, General Managers, Arshad Choudhary, FA/CAO, Saba Noor, Vinay Chib, DGMs, Medical Officers and other officers and officials actively participated in the workshop.

The main purpose of this workshop was to address various challenges regarding procurement of medical machinery and equipment.

The panel of speakers delivered lectures on topics pertaining to their specialities.

Dr. Shakti Gupta, Director AIIMs, Jammu, delivered lecture on “Best Practices in Medical Machinery and Equipment Procurement” while Manju Sharma, Additional CEO, GeM along with Arpit Bajpai, Director Category Management (Health), GeM educated the participants on different aspects of “Healthcare Procurement on GeM portal”, Priyanka Mehra, Scientist, Joint Director Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Department gave an overview on “BIS activities and Standardization on Medical Devices” and Mukesh Goyal, Executive Director, Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited delivered lecture on “Medical Equipment and Machinery procurement practices in RMSCL”.

Prior to this, Pankaj Gupta, Managing Director, JKMSCL in his welcome address gave a brief introduction of the Corporation intimating the manifold increase in its work in last few years. He also briefed about various challenges being faced by the JKMSCL in procurement process which has led to necessity for conduct of this workshop.

Bhupinder Kumar, in his inaugural address, appreciated the efforts of JKMSCL and urged the HoDs to extend their full support to JKMSCL for conduct of procurement process in transparent and time bound manner. He desired that generalized specifications of Equipment and Machinery be finalized and replies to pre-bid queries and rate reasonability issues be addressed on fast mode enabling the JKMSCL to proceed on desired pace.

He also informed that once the machinery has been purchased through successful bidding process, same be installed in institutions without any further delay. Other different issues related to procurement process were also touched upon with the insistence on sensitivity with respect to the process.

The participants of the Workshop actively participated and also raised various queries which were answered and by the respective speakers.

JKMSCL, a fully owned company of J&K government, is undertaking the work of procurement of drugs, medicines, medical equipment and machinery in the UT for different Government Medical Colleges.
