Attack on minorities in Budgam: 4 accused chargesheeted

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has produced chargesheet against four accused persons who were involved in attack on minority community on August 15 this year.

Police produced the chargesheet against three adults Altaf Farooq Rather, son of Farooq Ahmad Rather of Dharambugh Kralpora; Suhail Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Hamid Malik of Panzan Chadoora, Faizan Khursheed Panjabi, son of Khursheed Ahmad of Dharambugh Kralpora and a juvenile from Tanghara Dharambugh Kralpora Chadoora, police said in a statement.

On August 15, 2022 at around 20:15 hours, a grenade attack took place at a house at Gopalpora Chadoora in which one member of the minority community identified as Karan Kumar, son of Anil Kumar of Gopalpora Chadoora got injured and was evacuated to the hospital.

A case — FIR number 147/2022 under sections 307 IPC and 16 ULA(P) Act — was registered at Police Station Chadoora.

During investigation of the case, offences under section 307 IPC , 16, 18 ,23 39 ULA(P) were established against the four accused (including a juvenile) and the chargesheet was produced before the competent court today after obtaining the sanction from the competent authority, police said.
