Srinagar: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and Bandipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police party of police post Narbal Magam during night patrolling near village Yarigund signalled a vehicle (auto load-carrier JK01L-8141) to stop, which tried to flee. The vehicle was intercepted and during search 21 kgs of cannabis leaves-like substance was recovered from it.

The driver identified as Tasaduq Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohammad Subhan Ganie of Yarigund and te vehicle seized, police said.

In Bandipora, acting on specific information, a police arrested a person identified as Reyaz Ahmad Lone, son of Ali Mohammad Lone of Braripora Bankote, and recovered “charas-like substance” concealed in a polythene bag from his possession.
