Srinagar: Police on Monday said it has arrested three drug-peddlers in Ganderbal and Bandipora districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party at a checkpoint established at Iqbalabad Kangan, arrested a drug-peddler identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Jagal, son of Nazir Ahmad Jagal of Naranag, Kangan. During his search, contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to a police station where he remains in custody, a police spokesperson said.
He said in Bandipora, at a checkpoint established on Tularzoo Gunchipora Road, police arrested two drug-peddlers identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Wani, son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani, and Nayeem Ahmad Zargar, son of Ghulam Rasool Zargar, both residents of Pattan. During the search, 7.5 kgs of ‘charas’ (cannabis) was recovered from their possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, spokesperson said.
