Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession, police spokesman said Monday.
He said a police party at a checkpoint established at Kachwari Handwara intercepted three suspicious persons and recovered 29 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession, following which they were arrested.
The arrested persons were identified as Javid Ahmad Sofi, son of Abdul Razak of Khunbal Handwara; Ghulam Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Khaliq of Chanjmulla Zachaldara, and Haroon Ahmad Reshi, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin, resident of Warpora Zachaldara.
A case (FIR No. 266/2022) under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and further investigation has been taken up, spokesman said.
