Srinagar: Director School Education Kashmir, Tasaduq Hussain Mir on Thursday said the Term II examination of junior classes will be “most probably” held in March 2023.

Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a function at SKICC here, Mir said they have sent their proposal to the government and the final decision will be taken within two days.

“If weather remains favourable then there will be no winter vacation till December last week and all elementary classes exams will be held in March. The final decision will be announced within two days,” he said.

Mir said the educational institutions remained closed in Jammu and Kashmir for complete two years due to the COVID-19 causing vast learning gaps among the students which needs to be filled.

“Vacations depend on weather conditions, if weather conditions permit, we will continue till December end, schools have been reopened after two years and we have lot of learning gaps, which needs to be filled and we are doing remedial teaching to fill the void,” Director Education said.

On Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) or Tomato Fever among school going children, he said a very few cases have been detected as of now and asked people not to panic as the ‘situation is continuously being monitored by the team of medical experts’.

“There is no alarming situation so far as percentage of HFMD among children is very low. A very few cases have been detected and we have isolated them, we should not panic as the government has constituted teams to monitor the situation. Tomato Fever is a minor disease and the situation is completely under control,” he added.

Notably, the School Education Department (SED) J&K earlier ordered shifting to the March session of examination for class 10th to 12th students from the current academic session.
