DG Prisons, Lohia murdered in Jammu

Jammu: In a shocking incident, Director General of Police (Prisons), J&K, Hemant Kumar Lohia was murdered Monday evening in the outskirts of Jammu.

Sources said that Lohia, 1992 Batch IPS officer, was found murdered at a residential house in Udeywalla area that comes under Police Station Domana.

The residential house, sources said, belongs to a friend of Lohia. The friend originally hails from Rajouri.

Some sources said that he was hit in the head and the murderer then tried to burnt his body with some chemical that alerted the neighbours who called police.

The body was rushed to GMC Jammu where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police has not issued any formal statement about the incident, however, sources said that the investigations are on and the cause of the death could be known only after the autopsy of the body.

Lohia was appointed DG Prisons in 2022.
