Kashmir gets season’s first snowfall

Srinagar: Affarwat hills, overlooking Gulmarg resort in north Kashmir received this season’s first snowfall Sunday early morning while weather remained overcast in the plains.

In the rest of Jammu and Kashmir, the weather was mainly dry during the last 24 hours, though some areas got a drizzle which followed gusty winds during the preceding night.

The Meteorological (MeT) office said on Sunday that partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain is likely during the next 24 hours.

“Weather is likely to remain partly cloudy with possibility of light rain in J&K during the next 24 hours,” an official of the MeT department said.

Meanwhile, Gulmarg recorded lowest minimum temperature (2.7 degrees Celsius) while as minimum temperatures in Pahalgam and Srinagar settled at 2.7 and 11.8 degrees Celsius respectively.

Drass town in Ladakh region had 6.6, Kargil 9 and Leh 3.6 as the minimum temperature.

Jammu had 20, Katra 17.6, Batote 12.5, Banihal 10 and Bhaderwah 11.7 as the minimum temperature.
