Dir Law Enforcement, Dir Agri review functioning of Enforcement Wing of Agri Dept

SRINAGAR: The Director Law Enforcement J&K, Dr. K.K Sharma, and Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, today co-chaired a meeting of concerned officers to take stock of the functioning of the Enforcement wing of the Agriculture Department.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Law Enforcement J&K said that the primary objective of the enforcement wing is to ensure that quality fertilizers, and pesticides are made available to the farming community through proper sale outlets at the right time.

He impressed upon the officers to put in all the efforts for the online service delivery to the farmers under BRAP system. He said while functioning in the field the concerned officers must ensure that all the provisions of the Insecticides act 1968, Seed act 1966, and Fertilizer Control order 1985 are implemented in letter and spirit.

 While addressing the meeting, Director Agriculture Kashmir who is also Controller Insecticides said that the Department is committed to safeguarding the interests of the farming community of the region. He exhorted the concerned officers to remain in close coordination with the officers of the extension wing of the department in order to get effective results in the overall working of the department.

He highlighted the importance of transparency and accountancy in the system to ensure the smooth distribution of quality pesticides, fertilizers, and seeds to growers and farmers.

Earlier, Law Enforcement Officer North Kashmir apprised the chair regarding various activities carried out on the ground by the enforcement wing including special inspections, sampling, prosecution launched, the status of sale, stock/seizure, and other contraventions. He assured the chair that every possible step is being taken for providing quality agriculture inputs to the farming community.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Extension, Joint Director Agriculture Inputs, Deputy Director Law Enforcement, Plant Protection Officer Kashmir, District Law Enforcement Officer North, District Law Enforcement Officer South, and other senior officers of the Enforcement Wing of the Agriculture Department.
