DC B’pora flags off 50 students for trekking expedition to Gurez

Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed, on Tuesday flagged off a group of trekkers from the mini Secretariat, here to Gurez for a 5-day trekking expedition.

About 50 students from different education zones are participating in this trekking expedition.

Officials informed that 10 students from every zone under the age group of 14 and 17 along with 06 officials of the Youth Services and Sports department are participating in a five days trekking expedition.

ADC Bandipora, Waseem Raja, and Joint Director Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad were also at the flag-off ceremony.

Speaking on occasion, the DC said that trekking over the hills of Gurez will be a great experience for students. He urged them to exhibit a high standard of discipline and cooperation during trekking. He also urged them to observe the flora and fauna of the places they will be visiting for knowledge and reference.

Dr Owais also made an appeal to the students to act as ambassadors in their institutions for the eradication of the drug menace that is affecting society at a large pace.

He said that while achieving the objectives of trekking, all trekkers shall reap its benefits and inculcate the best human values in them to become good citizens.

All the arrangements for transportation, boarding, and lodging have been made by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS).

The DC appreciated the organizers and urged them to provide enough guidance and ensure the availability of all facilities to the trekkers during the camp.
