J&K logs 12 new cases of COVID-19

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 12 fresh Covid cases on Monday that took the infection tally to 4,78,947, officials said.
The death toll stands at 4,784. No Covid-related fatality was reported in the Union Territory, they said. So far 2,433 persons have succumbed to the viral infection in Kashmir and 2,351 in Jammu division.
All the new cases were reported from Kashmir division, officials said, adding that Srinagar reported eight cases, Kulgam reported three cases, and Pulwama reported one case.
Currently there are 194 active cases in J&K – 105 in Kashmir and 89 in Jammu division — while the overall recoveries has reached 4,73,969, they officials said, adding that there were 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) recorded so far in J&K.
They said 29 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, including 17 from Kashmir and 12 from Jammu division, in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.
Also, 8,877 doses of COVID vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across Jammu and Kashmir till date to 2,45,32,918.

India reports 4,800 new COVID-19 cases

With 4,858 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,45,39,046, while the active cases increased to 48,027, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.
The death toll has climbed to 5,28,355 with 18 fatalities, which includes eight deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The active cases comprise 0.11 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.71 percent, the health ministry said.
An increase of 105 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours, it said.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.76 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was at 1.78 percent, according to the health ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,39,62,664, while the case fatality rate was 1.19 percent.
According to the ministry, 216.70 crore doses of vaccines have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.
