Speaking on the occasion, the Director highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied sectors and said that the department is endeavouring to attract more and more educated youth towards the agriculture sector so that the entrepreneurship culture in the sector could be promoted.

He also marked the importance of niche crops like cocks comb, for the area and said the under-integrated system of farming such crops could complement the overall income of concerned farmers.

“As per our agro-climatic conditions niche crops have a great scope and the efforts by the department are for their promotion on scientific lines,” he added.

Iqbal impressed upon the concerned officers to organize awareness programmes for the farmers regarding the commercial importance of niche crops like cocks comb.
