SRINAGAR: The Department of State Taxes Kashmir carried out enforcement activity in several areas of Kashmir to tap the tax evasion noticed in the service sector.
Under the activity, several hotels were inspected by the departmental teams, and where ever default was noticed, records were seized and action as warranted under the provisions of the Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 was initiated against the defaulting hoteliers.
The department will continue with such practice in the future as well to ensure that no business is carried out in the name of the hotel industry causing any kind of loss to the Govt Exchequer.
Meanwhile, it is impressed upon all Hotels/guest houses/ restaurants/ private coaching centers/beauty parlours/cable operators and others who provide rental services to get their businesses registered with State Taxes Kashmir within a period of 07 days from the publication of this news to avoid any legal/penal action under Goods and Services Taxes Act, 2017 against them.
