Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and Member of Parliament Anantnag Hassnain Masoodi on Saturday said that people’s support for JKNC is tied to its beliefs of equitable development, social justice and welfarism.

Earlier, Masoodi toured Frisal, Yaripura, Behibagh areas of Kulgam. During the breadth of his visit, he visited educational institutions, Sub District hospitals to check on the quality of infrastructural facilities and academics there. He also reviewed the status of various flag-shop programmes aimed to bring objective changes in the education system. He interacted with students and teachers and enquired about the issues and challenges faced by them in their schools and colleges.

Assuring them all possible support, Masoodi said, “Instead of cramming, learning should be emphasized. Since education is a country’s lifeline, it should be learner-centric rather than mark-centric. The government of Jammu and Kashmir should take pragmatic landmark decisions to ensure quality, equality, accessibility, accountability, and affordability in the system besides improving teaching and learning standards in schools.”

Masoodi also visited primary health care centers and hospitals in these areas. It came to light during his visit that there is an acute shortage of medical staff, medicines, and critical life-saving equipment in the hospitals. After hearing about problems being faced in the respective hospitals, he assured them that he will take up the matter with concerned departments.

Later, while addressing workers, he said, “Real growth is not possible if it’s not inclusive. If the last person living in Kulgam, Gurez, and Rajouri is hankering for basic amenities, then what development are we talking about.” He also interacted with civil society members on the occasion.
