Sports enthusiasts, clubs throng J&K Sports Council to tie up for “My Youth My Pride”

SRINAGAR: The special initiative for inclusive sports of all, My Youth My Pride is gaining popularity among the masses with dozens of clubs and sports organizations rushing to the J&K Sports Council’s head office to tie up with organizers for the programme.

Moreover, Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul received scores of such delegations over many days, she assured all genuine demands are in active consideration and after proper examination, shall be addressed on merit.

Meanwhile, the Ice-Stock championship organized jointly by J&K Sports Council and J&K Ice Stock Association in the Gindun Sports Complex Rajbagh, Srinagar entered its second day, today.

On day one of the championship, Kupwara men comprising Aadil Manzoor Peer and Navaid Nabi bagged the top slots in the individual target men while Srinagar’s Ashiq Sultan and Shopian’s Burhan Qayoom jointly shared the third place.

Srinagar eves compensated for the men in individual target women by bagging all three positions with Simran Mehraj bagging the gold, Azhar Fatima clinching Silver, and Basira Amreen Khan getting hold of bronze but she had to share the third slot with her counterpart, Mehwish Rashid, from Budgam.

Events in the individual target for boys and girls were also held later in the day, yesterday in which Srinagar district dominated the proceedings in both the categories clinching the top two positions in both categories.

Simran Mehraj and Azhar Fatima clinched Gold and Silver medals respectively in the girls’ category while Kiraan-ul Khair Wani and Ibaad-u-Lone bagged the top two positions in the Boys’ category. The third position in both categories was shared by Basira Amreen Khan from Budgam and Mehwish Rashid Srinagar for girls and Huzaifa Farooq from Pulwama and Sozan Nazir from Kupwara.

On day two of the championship, team target events in women, men, girls, and boys categories were held.

The target men’s team gold went into the kitty of Kupwara while Srinagar A bagged the gold and Srinagar B and Pulwama settled for bronze. Similarly, in the women’s team target Scarlet Queens of Srinagar pocketed gold while team 4-Musketeers bagged silver, and teams of district Baramulla and Bandipora jointly shared the bronze medal.

In boy’s team target category Extreme Srinagar and Growth Sports Kupwara bagged gold and silver medals respectively while Anantnag and Ganderbal shared the third spot.

Similarly, in the girl’s team target category T.F Sports and Fantastic Team from Pulwama bagged gold and silver medals while Growth Sports Kupwara and Srinagar jointly shared third place.

My Youth My Pride events in the discipline of Yoga were also held in Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium Bandipora today which witnessed a massive participation of athletes from different areas. Moreover, special football coaching classes for toddlers and seniors were also in progress in Gindun Sports Complex Rajbagh Srinagar which mostly remains abuzz with sports activities from dawn to dusk.

Sports activities under My Youth My Pride and regular coaching and training classes in many other districts of the union territory were also in progress.
