J&K logs 131 positive cases of COVID-19

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 131 fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours, which pushed the cumulative infection tally in the UT to 4,77,644, officials said Tuesday.
They said 109 cases were reported from Kashmir and 22 from Jammu division, even as 260 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, including 210 from Kashmir and 50 from Jammu division, in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.
Providing district-wise breakup for today’s positive cases, the officials informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar reported 40 cases, Kupwara reported 18 cases, Budgam16 cases, Baramulla reported 13 cases, Anantnag reported six cases, Ganderbal reported five cases, Pulwama reported four cases, Bandipora reported three cases, while Kulgam and Shopian reported two fresh cases each.
Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 18 cases, Kishtwar two while Samba and Ramban reported one fresh case each today.
Currently there are 1,191 active positive cases in the UT, including 931 in Kashmir and 260 in Jammu division, they said.
So far 4,782 lives have been lost to the viral infection in J&K, including 2,432 in Kashmir and 2,350 in Jammu division.

Active Covid cases in country dip to 65,732

India saw a major decline in daily Covid cases with 5,439 new coronavirus infections being reported, while the active cases declined to 65,732, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.
The death toll climbed to 5,27,829 with 30 new fatalities, the data said.
The country had on Sunday recorded 7,591 coronavirus infections in a span of 24 hours.
According to the data updated at 8 am, the active cases comprise 0.15 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.66 percent,
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.70 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 2.64 percent, according to the ministry.
Over 88.55 crore tests for the detection of Covid have been conducted till date, with 3,20,418 done in the last 24 hours.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,38,25,024, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.
According to the ministry, 212.71 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
The 30 new fatalities include five from Maharashtra, four from Delhi and three from Haryana.
