We are endeavouring to convert our farmer into an agri-preneur: Chowdhary Iqbal

SRINAGAR: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, today visited Harwan area of district Srinagar.

He, on the occasion, visited the farms of different progressive farmers and interacted with the farming community of the area.

While talking to the farmers, the Director highlighted the importance of integrated farming and said that the future belongs to developed, vibrant, multi-dimensional agriculture and allied sectors and integrated farming could help achieve this.

Iqbal said that the department is working on a strategy where farmers are educated to adopt an integrated approach for their farms so that they could get maximum benefit in terms of business and profit. He assured the farmers of every possible technical support from the department whenever and wherever they need it.

The Director said that they are working for the transformation of the farming sector and transformation does not mean increased productivity, but socio-economic transformation and empowerment. “We are endeavouring to convert our farmer into an agri-preneur,” he added.

Earlier, the Director visited the cockscomb farms of a progressive farmer in Harwan. Talking to the concerned farmer, the Director said that they have already introduced J&K’s agriculture crops and commodities at the national and international level and now are working on the value addition of different crops and this process is on. Director Agriculture Kashmir was accompanied by senior officers of the Department.
