Apni Party holds women’s convention in border district Kupwara

Srinagar: Apni Party Women’s Wing Provincial President Kashmir Dilshada Shaheen said that Kashmiri women have suffered hugely due to the protracted conflict and violence in the Valley; Apni Party is committed to providing them a peaceful environment to ensure they have a better life ahead.

She was speaking at the party women’s convention — that was thronged by a large number of women — in Kupwara on Saturday.

According to the statement issued here, Dishada Shaheen said that Apni Party has a clear vision for the empowerment of J&K women. However, she emphasized that the womenfolk need to stand up for their legal and constitutional rights.

She said, “Apni Party will not leave any stone unturned to ensure our womenfolk that has suffered over the years get a better and dignified life. We are committed to ensuring J&K women are socially, economically, and politically empowered. But Kashmiri women too have to rise for their constitutional rights.”

She added, “You must join our hands and support us so that we will be able to serve you better. I promise you that if Apni Party is mediated to power in the forthcoming elections, it will take a series of initiatives to ensure opportunities for women.”

“Apni Party’s key agenda is to work for peace, prosperity, and development of Jammu and Kashmir. Once sustained peace is restored here, J&K people will start getting its dividends in terms of prosperity and development,” said Dilshada Shaheen.

Reiterating the Apni Party’s key promises for the economic benefit of the people, she said, “As our leadership has decided that Apni Party if comes to power, would enhance the marriage assistance for the women up to One Lakh rupees from the existing assistance of Rs 50,000; and widows’ pension from existing RS 1000 up to Rs 5000 each beneficiary.”

“Also, we will provide 500 units of free electricity to the Valley during winters and 300 units of free electricity during Summers. Similarly, people in Jammu will have 500 units of free electricity during the summer season and 300 units of free electricity during winter. Apni Party is committed to providing four free gas refills annually to every household in J&K,” she added.

Besides, Dilshada Shaheen the prominent women leaders who were present on the occasion include Afrooza Ji, Shaista Choudhary, Firdousa Geelani, Somia Sadaf, Parveena Ji, Tahira Ji, and others.
