J&K logs 187 fresh cases of COVID, one death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 187 fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours which pushed the cumulative infection tally to 4,77,119, while one more virus-related death pushed the death toll to 4,782, officials said Friday.

They said 148 cases were reported from Kashmir valley and 39 from Jammu division, while the latest fatality was also reported from Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for today’s positive cases, the officials informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar district reported 48 cases, Budgam 34 cases, Baramulla reported 19 cases, Anantnag reported 13 cases, Ganderbal reported 10 cases, Pulwama and Kupwara reported seven cases each, Kulgam reported four cases, three fresh cases each were reported in Bandipora and Shopian districts.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 25 cases, Ramban seven cases, Udhampur three cases while one case each were reported in Doda  and Kishtwar districts.

Moreover, 352 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, including 311 from Kashmir and 41 from Jammu division, in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

Currently there are 1,835 active positive cases in J&K, including 1,506 in Kashmir and 329 in Jammu division, while so far cumulatively 4,70,502 persons have recovered and 4,782 have died – 2,432 in Kashmir and 2,350 in Jammu division.

Officials also informed that 16,855 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours across Jammu and Kashmir bringing the cumulative number of doses administered till date to 2,42,17,107.

Active Covid cases in country decline to 90,707

India logged 10,256 new coroanvirus infections taking the total tally of cases to 4,43,89,176, while the active cases declined to 90,707, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death toll climbed to 5,27,556 with 68 fatalities which includes 29 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.20 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.61 percent, the ministry said.

A decline of 3,340 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate stood at 2.43 percent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 3.02 percent.

A total of 88.43 crore Covid tests have been conducted so far with 4,22,322 conducted in the last 24 hours.

The new deaths include six from Maharashtra, four each from Rajasthan and Delhi, three each from Chhattisgarh and Karnataka, two each from Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Punjab and West Bengal.
