SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha Tuesday heaped praises on local athletes for ‘brightening up’ the name of India and Jammu and Kashmir on national and international level and hoped that they will continue to demonstrate ‘powerpacked’ performance in future as well.

He said the sports veterans from different categories would encourage local talent in the process of improving or perfecting their skills.
“I really feel happy as I could see the entire India here; our local sportsmen for the last two to three years have brightened up the name of India and J&K on the national and international arena. You can see the Table Tennis championship was held here and the sports persons aged above 80 years from across the country have arrived here to participate in the championship,” said the LG, adding I hope our talented youth will demonstrate the same powerpacked performance in future as well.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez said over 1200 sportspersons from 35 states of the country have arrived here to participate in the tournament.
He said that he feels happy to see sports personalities from across India having arrived here to further hone skills of local sportsmen from Jammu and Kashmir whose ‘phenomenal’ performance enthralled audience on both national and international front.
