Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Tuesday condemned the blasphemous remarks made by BJP leader T Raja Singh on the Prophet of Islam (SAW).

In his words of condemnation Party’s State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said, “In a purported video circulated on social media, a BJP MLA was seen making offensive, derogatory remarks on our Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Such uncouth and blasphemous remarks have once again wounded our souls. Government’s inaction in reining in the likes of Nupur Sharma who had made blasphemous remarks against the Prophet (SAW) seems to have emboldened such elements and given them the confidence to make such derogatory remarks.”

“Had timely action been taken such motor mouths, such incidents wouldn’t have recurred. BJP’s distancing themselves from such people won’t do. For real course correction exemplary punishment should be meted out to such extremists,” he said.

The spokesperson has welcomed the Telangana government for its immediate legal action against the culprit. “It’s very heartening to see that quick action was taken against the erring MLA by the Telangana government. Now it’s incumbent upon the administration to take this case to its logical conclusion and give exemplary punishment to the BJP MLA,” Imran said.

Meanwhile, JKNC has expressed surprise over the shocking release of 11 rapists in the Bilkis Bano case. “Nowhere in an emancipated society would such criminals be allowed to go scot-free. It’s incumbent upon our justice system to deliver justice. We are hopeful that the Supreme Court will provide justice to the victim,” Imran added.
