While addressing the media here, Chaudhry said that the ‘Swaraj’ series will be the greatest tribute to the unsung heroes of our freedom struggle and will make countrymen conscious of their contributions during the freedom movement of India.

He further emphasized that the media must play its part in creating enthusiasm among countrymen to watch this mega historical series and help revive the era of the 90s when people eagerly waited for fresh episodes to air every week.

The mega historical series, ‘Swaraj- Bharat Ke Swatantrata Sangram Ki Samagra Gatha’, is a 75 episodes mega show illustrating the glorious history of India’s freedom struggle from the 15th century onwards. This serial will bring to life several aspects of Indian history while featuring the lives and sacrifices of lesser-known heroes. The popular film actor, Manoj Joshi, plays a stellar role as the narrator (sutradhar) of the serial.

In the 75th year of India’s Independence, when the nation is celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ under the leadership of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, Doordarshan is also undergoing a major revamp based on the theme of “Naye Bharat Ka Naya Doordarshan” with the launch of a number of new high-quality serials fulfilling its mandate as the Public Service Broadcaster of India, like “Jai Bharati”, “Corporate Sarpanch” and “Yeh Dil Maange More”, with the messages of patriotism and women empowerment.

‘Swaraj’ is envisioned as the iconic serial of Doordarshan which will turn into a national movement inspiring the public, especially the youth about India’s rich history and fill every India’s heart with pride!

Along with Swaraj, Doordarshan has launched many other mega serials. These include “Jai Bharati”, “Corporate Sarpanch” and “Yeh Dil Mange More”. These serials have messages of patriotism and women empowerment and will be telecast at prime time on DD National, Monday to Friday, starting from August 15th, 2022. Another serial “Suron Ka Eklavya” has high entertainment value as a reality music show and pays tribute to Bappi Lahiri. It will be telecast on Saturday and Sunday at prime time from 8 to 9 PM, starting on August 14th, 2022.

A show focusing on startups is also coming up on DD News and DD National. “Startup Champions 2.0” showcases the journey and success of 46 national award-winning startups. It is being telecast on DD News on Saturdays at 9 PM and on Sundays on DD National at 12 Noon. It is a very interesting depiction of how the entrepreneurial culture is growing in the country. The English version of this show will be on DD India every Saturday at 10 PM.i
