Srinagar: News18, the premier media and entertainment group, today launched its 24 hour ‘News18 J&K, Ladakh, Himachal’, during a function coinciding with 76th Independence Day of India.
The channel was formally launched by Lt Governor, J&K, Manoj Sinha at a local hotel here.
Speaking at the launch, Sinha said it is big feat in the media industry.
“There are 392 news channels in the country, which is even more than the United States of America which has close to 100 channels and this speaks volumes of the freedom of the media and true nature of democracy in India,” Sinha said.
Welcoming the initiative of Network18 of reaching the people through three more languages, Sinha said: “I have been told that Network18 has already been presenting news in 15 languages and I am hopeful that it will strive to include all regional languages.”
