Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 586 fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) which took the cumulative infection tally to 4,72,597, officials said Friday.

They said 539 fresh cases were reported from Kashmir valley and 47 from the Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, the officials informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar reported 185 cases, Baramulla reported 133 cases, Budgam 83 cases, Anantnag reported 42 cases, Kupwara reported 40 cases, Kulgam reported 24 cases, Ganderbal reported 13 cases, Bandipora reported nine cases while Pulwama and Shopian reported five cases each.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 27 cases, Kishtwar five, Ramban four, Rajouri and Doda three cases each, Kathua and Poonch two cases each, and Reasi reported one fresh case today.

Officials also said that 745 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, 623 from Kashmir division and 122 from Jammu division, in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

Currently there are 4,734 active positive cases in J&K – 3,887 in Kashmir and 847 in Jammu division. So far 4,63,086 infected persons have recovered while 4,777 persons have died – 2,431 in Kashmir and 2,346 in Jammu division.

Active Covid cases in country decline to 1,23,535

India added 16,561 new coronavirus cases taking the total tally of Covid cases to 4,42,23,557, while the active cases dipped to 1,23,535, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death toll climbed to 5,26,928 with 49 fatalities which include 10 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.28 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.53 percent, the ministry said.

A decrease of 1,541 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.44 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.88 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,35,73,094, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry, 207.47 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
