Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday reported 547 new Covid cases, taking the cumulative infection tally to 4,71,374, while no fresh death due to the virus was reported, officials said.

While 477 cases were reported from Kashmir valley, 70 cases were reported from Jammu division, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, officials informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar reported 125 cases, Baramulla reported 171 cases, Budgam 60 cases, Anantnag reported 35 cases, Kupwara reported 30 cases, Ganderbal reported 22 cases, Pulwama reported 18 cases, Bandipora reported eight cases, Kulgam reported seven cases and Shopian reported one fresh case today.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 38 cases, Ramban eight cases, Kishtwar six, Udhampur and Samba five cases each, Doda three, Kathua and Poonch two cases each, and Rajouri reported one fresh case today.

The death toll due to the virus was 4,776, officials said. While 2,430 persons have succumbed to the viral infection in Kashmir valley, 2,346 have died in Jammu division.

Currently there are 4,927 active cases of the disease in the Union Territory – 3,943 in Kashmir and 984 in Jammu division– while the number of recoveries has reached 4,61,671, they said, adding this also includes 766 COVID-19 patients who have were discharged from various hospitals — 545 from Kashmir and 221 from Jammu division – in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.
