Dr Itoo reviews assets, facilities of Tourism Deptt Baramulla

BARAMULLA: Director Tourism Kashmir, Dr GN Itoo, today conducted an extensive tour of Baramulla district and took a holistic review of the assets and facilities of the Tourism Department in the district.

During his visit, Dr. Itoo visited Ladoora and took an on spot review of the assets created there and the functionality of these assets in future.

Threadbare deliberations were held over the tourism assets there during his interaction with the executing agencies and locals of the area.

During his visit, the Director Tourism visited Boniyar and attended an event to operationalize a restaurant of the Department.

While interacting with the locals and officers, Dr Itoo maintained that there is a lot of tourism potential in the district and the department is making efforts to tap this potential.

He reiterated that besides Gulmarg, the district hosts numerous other attractions like Eco Park, Drang, Shranz fall, Namblan Fall and Guwas meadow, besides the treks spread across Bosian, Vij etc.

He impressed upon the managers of the restaurant to make the eating place a signature point of Baramulla district and Tourism Department.

Later, the Director Tourism along with the team of officers visited Eco Park Baramulla where he held a detailed inspection of the Park and the departmental assets. He urged the Park managers to start adventure activities, tented accommodations etc at the earliest and added that the department is planning to conduct an adventure festival at the park soon.

He also appealed to people to maintain the ecology of the Park and help the Department in managing waste disposal while enjoying their stay at the Park.

The Director Tourism directed immediate setting up of waste disposal spot at the Park and regular lifting of waste by the concerned agencies. He also directed immediate restoration of the fountain and other works at the earliest for the attraction of visitors.

The Director Tourism was accompanied by Deputy Director Tourism Kashmir, officers and engineers from the National Building Construction Corporation and Tourism Department and other officers of the District administration

Earlier in the day, Dr. Itoo also visited Palhallan, where he witnessed a demonstration of the Agriculture Department’s innovation of drying up vegetables.

The demonstration was conducted by a local NGO and Director Agriculture Kashmir, Choudhary Mohammad Iqbal was also present on the occasion.
