Parmar chairs UT Level Committee meet on reassessment of groundwater resources

JAMMU: Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, Ashok Kumar Parmar today chaired a meeting of UT Level Committee constituted for reassessment of groundwater resources across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on various issues like Nomination of Nodal Officers/ Chairperson of working Group, Formulation of UT level ground Water resource Estimation Assessment Cell, Formulation of District Level and Permanent Groundwater Level Assessment Cell in the Nodal Department, among others.

 The meeting was attended by Director, Agriculture Jammu, Director, Industries & Commerce Jammu, Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti Department (PHE) Jammu/Kashmir, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti (I&FC) Department Jammu/Kashmir, Representatives of SKUAST Jammu, JKWRAA, RDD and NABARD besides officers of other concerned departments both in person and through video conferencing.

Speaking during the meeting, the Principal Secretary directed the concerned officers to collect the correct data of GWRA from all stakeholders and upload the same on site within the given timeline. He also asked them to maintain coordination and synergy with nodal agencies and other concerned stakeholders for effective implementation of ground water management interventions at district level.

During the meeting, a power point presentation was also presented to outline the progress achieved on various components by the committee.
