Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir continued to see a substantial rise in new Covid cases as 505 fresh infections surfaced on Thursday, taking the cumulative infection tally to 4,58,456, officials said.
No fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, they said.
Of the new cases, 277 were reported from Jammu and 228 from Kashmir, officials said.
Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, they informed that Jammu district reported 200 cases, Srinagar reported 144 cases, Udhampur reported 25 cases, Baramulla reported 38 cases, Kupwara reported 23 cases, Kishtwar reported 11 cases, Kathua reported 14 cases, Rajouri, Doda and Bandipora reported five cases each, Samba and Budgam reported six cases each, Pulwama and Ganderbal reported two cases each, Anantnag and Reasi reported three cases each, Poonch reported eight cases, Kulgam reported four cases, and Shopian reported one case.
The death toll due to the virus stands at 4,761. So far the disease has claimed 2,425 lives in Kashmir division and 2,336 in Jammu division.
Currently there are 2,077 active Covid cases in the Union Territory, including 1,176 in Jammu division and 901 in Kashmir division, while the total number of recoveries has reached 4,51,618, officials said. They said this also includes 152 more COVID-19 patients who were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours after their recuperation — including 97 from Jammu division and 55 from Kashmir division.
There are 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory, they said.
