Srinagar : Almost all political leaders of Kashmir have expressed shock over the cloud burst incident near Amarnath Cave and asked the administration to gear up the rescue operation.

“Very much concerned about the lives of Amarnath Yatris affected by the cloudburst near the Shrine. I pray Almighty for the safety of all Yatris,” tweeted former J&K Chief Minister and Congress stalwart, G N Azad.

Another former Chief Minister and NC leader, Omar Abdullah tweeted: “Deeply saddened by the reports of loss of precious lives coming in from the site of the cloud burst near the Amarnath Cave. My condolences to the loved ones of the deceased & prayers for those injured in the aftermath of the flash floods.”

“Saddened & shocked to know about the tragic cloudburst accident near the Amarnath cave. Deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives,” tweeted former Chief Minister and PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti.

JKPC chairman, Sajad Lone tweeted: “Very sad news coming in. Cloudburst at a location enroute to Amaranth. Hope there is minimum possible damage. Heartfelt sympathies for those impacted by the cloudburst.”

CPI (M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami, in a statement issued today, expressed deep shock and grief over the incident in Baltal area of Ganderbal and asked the administration to gear up the rescue operation at the site.

He also demanded ex-gratia relief for the victim families and free of cost treatment to those injured in the accident.

Expressing grief over the incident, Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said: “My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their loved ones in a tragic cloud burst at Amarnath cave. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace. I pray for the safety of all the pilgrims and those who are around, assisting them.”
