SRINAGAR: In order to develop the border areas/villages, MHA has selected two villages from J&K under Vibrant Village program, Kanzalwan Nayil in Bagtore block of Gurez and Chandoosa Baramulla for comprehensive development of the villages.

In this regard, Centre has directed all ministries to make concerted and coordinated action plans for comprehensive development of border villages.

For the development of MSMEs, a visit was carried out by Saheel Alaqband  from the Ministry of MSME along with the officers from NRLM, KVIB, DIC, Employment and J&K Bank to Chandoosa Village of Baramulla.

The officer spent one night in the area and discussed problems faced by village community threadbare by interacting with people of all age groups.

The Concerned BDO was present during the meeting held with the villager community represented by Sarpanch and Panch. Deputy Commissioner Baramullah had directed the concerned departments to be present during the visit and provided all possible support in this regard.

During the meeting, the Assistant Director Ministry of MSME stressed that the village needs to be developed and results must be seen on ground, therefore all concerned departments should start doing awareness campaign with regards to different schemes/avenues available, look for possible forward and backward linkages with regards to business opportunities and also should implement respective schemes in the village.

The village is dealing with horticulture produce and small food processing units may be established. The livelihood of the people besides horticulture is also dependent on tourism of Gulmarg as many are providing different services to tourists.

During the visit, Assistant Director MSME visited some tourist spots that need to be developed.

Skill development courses may also be started soon in the Village through NRLM, DIC and KVIB may explore options by providing assistance through PMEGP Scheme. The employment dept may implement “tejaswani scheme under mission youth” in the chandoosa area which is extremely helpful for women entrepreneurship.

All departments were requested to chart out the action plan so that the comprehensive plan for enterprise development will be submitted to the Ministry of MSME. The senior officers will monitor the performance of the Village on a monthly basis.

During the meeting, villagers raised many issues like lack of street lighting, infrastructure and manpower of health centers, unemployment etc which needs focus from the concerned departments.

The officer nominated by the ministry ensured that all possible steps with regards to enterprise development will be taken up as part of a vibrant village program.
