Police observes International Day against drug abuse

Srinagar: On the eve of “International Day against Drug abuse and illicit Trafficking” Police observed events at various police establishments in district Budgam and Kulgam. Besides, several rallies were also organised at various prominent places of district Budgam to aware the youth as well as society from drugs & its ill effects.

The main rally was carried out by Police Budgam District Police Headquarters Budgam to Main town Budgam in which DySP Hqrs Budgam Naeem Wani along with SHO Police Station Budgam, large number of students, youth and respectables of the area participated.

Similarly, various rallies were also organised in the jurisdictions of PS Khansahab, PS Charar-i-Sharief, PS Chadoora, PS Magam and PS Beerwah in which concerned SHOs, officials from Revenue Department including concerned Tehsildars, various officers of other civil authorities, members of civil society, NGOs and students from different Schools of these areas participated. Besides, a seminar was also organised at Degree College Magam to spread awareness about drug abuse and its ill effects on society.

On the occasion, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem in his message advised the parents to pay keen attention towards the behaviour of their children & not to put any psychological pressure upon them which could attract them towards the drug menace. He also advised youth to take part in sports activities besides excelling in their academics for proper channelization of their energy.

Moreover, Police in Kulgam have also organised the event in Police Station Yaripora in collaboration with department of Education in which students and teachers from different schools participated. The chairing officers stressed upon the participants that public cooperation is a key role in eradicating social evils from society.
