Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and MP Anantnag Hasnain Masoodi on Tuesday visited the Shirpora fire victims in Anantnag and expressed solidarity with them on their terrible losses.

Interacting with the fire victims, Masoodi said that the strength that the affected families have displayed in wake of the unfortunate incident was a telling indication of their resilience. The affected families apprised the visiting party delegation about the sheer amount of losses incurred by them.

Victim families informed the visiting delegation members how devastatingly the fire ripped through their savings, household items, and livestock. It was also brought to the notice of the delegation members that the task of restoring the affected houses would be physically demanding and economically and administratively exhausting.

Echoing with the sentiments of fire wreaked families, the delegation members said that the ablaze has left nothing salvageable. The victims, they observed, were devastated in a matter of minutes, burning up all their possessions in what seemed like the blink of an eye. Assuring all possible support to the victims, the party delegation promised to lend voice to their woes at all appropriate levels.

Later on, Masoodi called on DC Anantnag and implored upon him to reach out to the affected families with adequate relief and rehabilitation packages. He further impressed upon the concerned DC to give required permission for pulling down partly and fully damaged structures forthwith so that the affected would have roofs over their heads before the onset of the upcoming autumn season.

Joined by the party South zone functionaries, Masoodi also visited the under-construction GMC Dialgam in Kulgam. The officials told the delegation members that nonclinical classes have already started in the facility and in the due course of time clinical ones will also commence. Calling for expediting the work, Masoodi asked the concerned officials to ensure that the facility is able to cater to the ever-increasing rush of patients.
