Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 19 new Covid cases on Monday, taking the cumulative infection tally to 4,54,520 while another fatality due to the virus raised the death toll to 4,753, officials said here.

According to officials, the death was reported from Jammu and was the first Covid-related fatality in the Union Territory in more than a month.

Of the new cases, 12 were reported from Kashmir division and seven from Jammu, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases for today, they informed that Jammu and Srinagar districts reported five cases each, Kupwara reported seven cases, Udhampur and Samba reported one case each while no other district reported any fresh case.

Moreover, 12 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including eight from Jammu division and four from Kashmir.

Currently there are 169 active cases of COVID-19 in the UT — 107 in Jammu division and 62 in Kashmir –  while the number of recoveries has reached 4,49,598, officials said.

There are 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in Jammu and Kashmir, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin informed that 4,797 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,31,87,675.

According to the bulletin out of 4,54,520 positive cases reported so far, 4,49,598 persons have recovered and 4,753 have died – 2,424 in Kashmir and 2,329 in Jammu division.
