Transport Commissioner reviews functioning of Motor Vehicle Department

SRINAGAR: Transport Commissioner today reviewed the functioning of Motor Vehicle Department here.

All the Regional Transport Officers (RTOs), ARTOs and other concerned attended the meeting.

While emphasising the need to bring efficiency and transparency in working of the department, the Transport Commissioner stressed on the importance of IT enabled services in the department.

The performance of Fitment of High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) across districts was reviewed and all RTOs and ARTOs were directed to enhance the enforcement measures to ensure that strict action is taken against vehicle owners for non-affixation of HSRP as per Motor Vehicle Act. It was further informed that booking of HSRP through online mode via (https://realmazon.com) has also been started. All RTOs/ARTOs were asked to give wide publicity for the online booking of HSRP.

The RTOs/ARTOs of all Districts were advised to strictly discourage physical presence of applicants in their offices and ensure compliance with instructions of the Govt. regarding online services. Transport Commissioner directed all officers to put efforts to make the all the services easily available to general public.

RTOs/ARTOs were also directed to check violations on roads and penalized the offenders under Motor Vehicle Act/ Rules.

During ensuing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2022, the ARTO’s particularly Anantnag and Ganderbal shall ensure that all arrangements are put in place and pilgrims do not suffer on account of overcharging.

Regarding introduction of E-Rickshaws, the RTOs/ARTOs were asked to get their routes notified through concerned Regional Transport Authorities as per standing guidelines issued by the government.
