DC Srinagar visits Yatra Transit Camp Panthachowk; oversees preparations for SANJY-2022

SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today visited Yatra Transit Camp (YTC) at Panthachowk to take stock of the pace of works undertaken for facility upgradation for the Yatries expected to participate in annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SAJY)-2022. 

The DC also took stock of the sanitation and cleanliness measures being put in place within the premises of the Transit camp for the convenience of the Yatries.

On the occasion, the DC inspected various works in progress including construction of prefab huts, public convenience facilities, proposed space for establishment of Langars, Water Management, installation of Stalls by local SHGs, etc. for the forthcoming annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2022.

While inspecting the newly constructed Prefabricated structures for boarding of the Yatries during their temporary halt, the DC was apprised that two Prefabricated huts have been completed, while work on four more prefab huts will be completed by the end of this week to further augment the stay capacity.

The DC directed the officers to work in double shifts and complete the work within two days.

He was informed that all necessary arrangements with regard to drinking water and electricity facilities have been made in advance at the halt camp. More than 50 water tanks have been installed in the camp. He was further informed that about 100 mobile washrooms and more than 50 mobile urinals have been kept available at the Transit camp, in addition to newly constructed prefabricated public convenience facilities.

The authorities of Srinagar Municipal Corporation were directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in the transit camp on a regular basis, besides deployment of sufficient staff at the camp for periodical cleanliness in and around the transit camp every day.

The DC also directed for installing dust bins at different locations in the premises of the halt camp.

Similarly, the officers of NRLM were directed to set up stalls of Self Help Groups (SHGs) regarding Handicraft and Handloom related items at the identified space in the transit camp at the earliest.

The DC also inspected the facility being created for setting up first aid and other healthcare facilities at the camp.

He also inspected identified Langar sites at the camp and took first-hand appraisal of the facilities.

Superintendent Engineer, R&B; Joint Commissioner, SMC; Executive Engineers of PHE, R&B, I&FC and PDD, Tehsildar  Panthachowk and Channapora, Chief Sanitation Officer and other senior officers of Police and Civil Administration accompanied the DC during the visit.
