A total of 30 Deputy Superintendents of Police (Dy.SsP) and 61 Probationary Sub-Inspectors (PSIs), at SKPA Udhampur completed their training today at the Police Academy. An oath was administered to the passing-out cadets for performing their duties with dedication and honesty.

Speaking on the occasion, LG said that there is a need to be more alert as compared to the past in view of the new strategy and multi-facet terrorism.

The LG asked the police force to treat even those “who harbour and support the terrorists” in the category of terrorists and deal with them accordingly.

“The person, who harbours and supports the terrorist is as guilty as a terrorist who kills. The person who runs this ecosystem is equally guilty,” he said.

“Both should be dealt with similar punishment as both are enemies of humanity,” he said.

Reassuring the families of those who lost their kin in selective killings, LG said their killers will soon be brought to justice.

“I want to reassure the families of martyrs that each tear of yours will be avenged. Security forces will not rest till they eliminate each of those, who killed the innocents,” said the LG.

He said that “India has been a victim of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism for years, and though the security forces have been able to largely dismantle their ecosystem, there’s still a handful who are responsible for most killings in the region.”

He also termed the social media as a new challenge to the security establishment in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Social media is being used to spread rumours. Cyber crimes, as compared to other crimes, increased by over 11 per cent between 2019 and 2020,” he said.

Sinha said that the social media is being used to create conflict within the society, and called on the forces to prepare for the “fourth generation warfare”.

At the outset of the function, the LG took the salute and inspected the parade, besides taking the salute at a march-past by men and women contingents.

Congratulating the passing-out cadets, the LG asked them to discharge their duty with utmost responsibility and dedication by effectively tackling traditional as well as modern challenges, and carry forward the rich legacy of courage and bravery of Jammu & Kashmir Police.

“I am confident that these brave officers will do their best to serve Maa Bharti and to uphold the dignity of Jammu Kashmir Police,” said the LG.

According to an official press release, paying his tributes to the JKP and other security forces’ personnel who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, the LG observed that the Jammu and Kashmir Police is a proud force of the country tackling big challenges posed by terrorism, maintaining law and order, dealing with the increasing threats from drones, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and radicalization, besides maintaining peace in Jammu & Kashmir and ensuring safe and secure environment for its people.

Dr. S.D Singh, Director, SKPA, in his introductory remarks informed about the training provided to the cadets on a number of courses on general policing, law and order management and other specialized operations.

Dilbag Singh, DGP, in his address congratulated the Director of SKPA Udhampur for providing quality training to the probationaries and welcomed the new entrants into the family of JKP. He congratulated the trainee officers and wished them a bright service career in their field work. He also highlighted the significance of 15 women officers in the POP.

The LG also handed over awards and certifications to best trainees and outstanding achievers.

Parade commander DySP Vikram Nag led an impressive parade of trainee DYSsP and PSIs.

LG orders probe into recruitment of police sub-inspectors

Taking cognisance of media reports about alleged fraud in the recruitment of police sub-inspectors, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday ordered a probe into the matter.

Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board, Sub-Inspector result 2022 was declared online on June 04.

With the list of shortlisted candidates out, the J&K Police recruitment exam has come under the scanner after several aspirants have called it a “fraud” and “unfair”.

“For last two to three days, newspapers are publishing reports thereby the recruitment of sub-inspectors has come under suspension,” Sinha said while addressing a passing-out parade of deputy superintendents of police (DySPs) and probationary sub inspectors (PSIs) at SKP academy in Udhampur.

“A committee headed by the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) will probe it,” he said, adding it will submit its report in a time-bound manner.

“The recruitment (list) will be cancelled if any wrongdoing is found during the probe,” Sinha said.

“No fingers were pointed at any other recruitment done so far and if there are apprehensions in the minds of people, it is the duty of the administration to carry out an impartial probe and take necessary action,” he said.

Pertinently, some aspirants have taken to social media and questioned how siblings in many cases got selected together in the SI exam.

The aspirants also took to streets in Jammu on Wednesday appealing the LG administration to probe the alleged fraud.
