JAMMU: A pall of gloom descended on maternal village of Rajni Bala, a teacher posted in Government High School in Gopalpura area of Kulgam, who was shot dead by terrorists on Tuesday.
After the news of Rajni Bala’s assassination broke this morning, people started thronging her Karel Manahs village in Bishnah.
A large number of mourners from the village and adjoining areas thronged the maternal house of Rajni Bala to express their condolences with the family.
Rajni Bala’s brother Surjit Kumar said that she was married to Raj Kumar of Nanke Chak area in Samba district, adding that the couple was posted in two different schools in Kulgam.
“My sister had gone to Kashmir in March after spending her holidays. She was enlightening the lives of children in Kulgam but the cruel terrorists could not digest her noble cause and mercilessly killed her. She had a very gentle nature. Never harmed anybody but the terrorists snatched her from us,” said Kumar.
An agitated villager said that the terrorists are killing innocent people including women out of frustration as they are incapable to challenge the security forces.
“Terrorists are intentionally targeting unarmed people as they are bunch of cowards who have no guts to face our security forces. Rajni was targeted when she had been going to attend her duties in the school. She was killed at the entrance of the school which is nothing but a shameful act. We condemn the dastardly act,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rajni Bala’s body reached her in-laws’ native village Nanke Chak in Samba district this evening. The family members, relatives, friends and a large number of villagers received the body with moist eyes.
