He also appealed to the allottees and stakeholders including the general public to render their cooperation in this important endeavour.

He further said that operationalization of the Mandi at Kupwara will bring down prices of fruit and vegetables significantly and rid the town of traffic congestion to a large extent.

The traders and farmers will also get access to national markets through digital and physical mode in a hassle-free manner. The shifting of Mandi to its designated place will be a win-win situation for all stakeholders.

Earlier, the Mandi had got a major facelift in terms of infrastructure building including macadamization, construction of Lavatory block and Vermi Compost pit during the first tenure of the DDC.

The Mandi which was confined to the seasonal dry fruit marketing will now be utilized for vegetable and fresh fruit marketing also.

Soon after taking charge, the DDC Kupwara directed the AMO to initiate immediate steps for making the vital facility functional for the benefit of farmers and consumers.

Meanwhile, 17 vendors have started their business in Mandi out of 65 fresh fruit and vegetable allottees.
