Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir has logged two fresh cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), in the last 24 hours, officials informed Monday.

They said one case each was reported from Srinagar and Jammu districts, which took the cumulative total of positive cases recorded thus far to 4,54,148.

Six more COVID-19 patients – three each in the twin divisions were discharged from various hospitals after their recuperation in the last 24 hours, they said.

No new case of mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today; so far a total number of confirmed cases of the disease have been recorded in J&K, officials said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 7,270 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,29,09,989.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,54,148 positive cases recorded in total so far in J&K, currently there are 51 active positive cases in the UT, including 39 in Jammu division and 12 in Kashmir, while 4,49,345 persons have recovered and 4,752 have died – 2,424 in Kashmir and 2,328 in Jammu division.

Active COVID-19 across India cases dip to 17,317

With 2,202 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,31,23,801 while the active cases dipped to 17,317, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The death toll climbed to 5,24,241 with 27 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprised 0.04 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 percent, the ministry said.

A decrease of 375 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.74 percent and weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.59 percent, according to the health ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,25,82,243, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.22 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 191.37 crore.
