Baramulla: Panic gripped people of Baramulla town after a rabid dog attacked dozens of people in Kanlibagh area of Baramulla town north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.

Witnesses said that a rabid dog attacked and injured at least a dozen people in Kanlibagh locality of Baramulla town.

“The dog attacked everyone who came in its way including children and women,” said an injured Abdul Rashid. “All the injured were taken to Associate Hospital GMC Baramulla for treatment,” he said.

Principal GMC Baramulla Dr. Ruby Reshi confirmed that six people were brought to the district hospital and they were given proper vaccination and treatment.

“We received six persons with dog bites injuries. All the injured were given first aid besides we injected them with anti-rabies vaccine and after keeping them under observation for some time discharged them from the hospital,” she said.

Meanwhile, people urged authorities to take necessary steps to check the menace of stray dogs in the Baramulla town.
