Srinagar: Two persons have been arrested for beating a youth to death in Khansahib area of Budgam, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said that Tahir Bashir Khan son of Bashir Ahmed Khan and Hilal Ahmed Lone son of Abdul Ganie Lone, both residents of Kachwari Khan Sahib area of Budgam, were arrested for beating to death a 25 year old person in Khansahib area.

The spokesman said that preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested accused persons had beaten a 25 year old, Fayaz Ahmed Najar son of Abdul Rashid Najar of Gurwaith Khan Sahib to death. 

“The deceased was hit on his head at Kachwari and was immediately taken to hospital in a critical condition for the treatment where he succumbed to his injuries,” said the spokesman.

He said that a case vide FIR No. 60/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Khansahib and investigation set into motion.

Meanwhile, reports said that family members and neighbours of the deceased youth held protests in their native village demanding stern action against the ‘murderers’.
