Srinagar: The Anti-corruption Bureau on Saturday trapped and arrested an Executive Engineer of Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000.

In a statement here, ACB spokesman said that it had received a complaint from a contractor alleging that Farooq Ahmad Rather, Executive Engineer, PDA was demanding bribe of Rs 10,000 for the MGNAREGA bills costing Rs 1.49 lakhs and demanding 1.5 percent share of Rs 4.25 lakhs for already executed and released capex works bills in block Achabal.

After registering a case, ACB constituted a trap team which caught Rather red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 10000 from the complainant.

He was arrested on the spot by the ACB team and the bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses, ACB said, adding that further investigations in the case are on.
