Srinagar: Former Cabinet Minister and Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, on Monday, urged the administration to ensure people get adequate stock of essential commodities, and all essential services in view of Shab-e- Qadr, Jumat-ul-Wida, and Eid ul-Fitr.

He said that the concerned officials should be on alert to ensure that people do not suffer due to black marketing, overcharging, and profiteering by the shopkeepers on the upcoming auspicious occasions. He called for making foolproof arrangements and ensuring the supply of potable drinking water and proper sanitation by the concerned department on these auspicious days.

Mir said that market checking squads, across the Valley, need to be on their toes to put a check on black marketers and hoarders.

He said it is the responsibility of the concerned departments to make sure there is an adequate supply of essentials and foods items including rice, and LPG to the people in all parts of the Valley; and offenders are refrained from resorting to any violation approved rate lists.

Stressing on uninterrupted power supply, especially on the auspicious night of Shab-e- Qadr, Mir said that the administration has miserably failed to provide uninterrupted power supply to the consumers during the holiest month of Ramdhan.

He said, “Authorities should, at least, make sure that no power breakdown occurs during the holiest night of Shab-e- Qadr, and the days around Eid ul-Fitr.”

Also, the Apni Party leader urges authorities to ensure the availability of public transport to facilitate hassle-free movement of the people to major congregational places on these auspicious days.

He said that the administration, especially the officials of important departments should be reachable to the people in case they have any complaint to bring to the notice of these officials.
