Bodies of 3 terrorists retrieved from Bla encounter site, operation called off: Police

Srinagar: Bodies of the three militants were retrieved as the security forces wound up the operation at Malwah village of Baramulla on Friday.

As already reported, three militants including top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Yousuf Kantroo, one of the longest-surviving militants in the Valley, was killed in the operation on Thursday.

Confirming that the operation was over, Kashmir Zone Police rweered “#BaramullaEncounterUpdate: Only 03 dead bodies of #terrorists recovered from the #encounter site. Identified as Yusuf Dar @ Kantru, Hilal Sheikh @ Hanzalla & Faisal Dar, all affiliated with proscribed #terror outfit LeT. Arms & ammunition recovered. Operation over.”

A Defence spokesman also confirmed the killing of three militants.

In a statement, the spokesman said, “The Security Forces came to know that one of the terrorists, Faisal Hafiz Dar who was newly recruited, a sincere call for him to surrender was made. His parents were also brought to the encounter site and even they appealed to him to lay down arms. The terrorists, who were with him did not allow him to surrender and forced him to retaliate.”
